Mr. Harry Ernest Dodd, 56, of Sheridan, Texas, on February 3, 2007, went to be with the Lord. He was born on November 20, 1950 to Harry Charles & Rita Boyd Dodd in Anaconda, Montana. He moved to Imperial Beach, California were son Donald Dean Dodd was born.
Ernest served his country in the U.S. Army. In the Army he worked in the Pentagon, and served in the Vietnam War were he received the Purple Heart. He was a standing member of the American Legion Post 022 in New York for over 30 years.
Ernest was a building contractor for many years in California. He then moved to the New England area where he continued working as a contractor. He was seeking a new career and graduated from Boston College with an Associates Degree in Nursing, and several other degrees, including Computer Science.
While in New England, Ernest was involved in Community endeavors which included various acting, singing, and dancing roles in the Community Theater. He was also part owner of "East End Collectables" an antique and collectables shop. Later he moved to be near his one and only sister Marguriette Dodd. He worked at various facilities as a RN. In 1999 he worked at Richmond State School where he met his future wife Penny Botard Cosper, a LVN. Ernest had worked in the locale area as a RN, St. Marks in LaGrange, Weimar Hospital, Lavaca Medical Center, and finally his niche at Hallettsville Rehabilitation Center.
Ernest and Penny were married on Friday, October 13, 2000 at the Assemble of God Church in Needville, Texas. They made their home in Sheridan.
Ernest is survived by: wife Penny of Sheridan; sister Marguriette Dodd of Hungerford, Texas; son Donald Dean Dodd; Stepson Naval Chief Coby Cosper & wife Brooke and there 2 children Ian Scott Cosper (3 years), and Kenzy Marie Cosper (4 months) of Imperial Beach, California; stepdaughter Brianna Cosper Linnemier & husband Joe Jr. and their child Ashlin Grace Linnemier (8 years) of Sheridan; niece Lisa Malina Hines & husband Ron and their children Ariel Elizabeth Hines (6 years), and Isaac Allan Hines (3 years), of Orlando, Florida; niece Julie Kayegarbs & husband Kevin of Rosenburg, Texas.
Ernest will be missed by many acquaintances, friends and family.
