Gwenda Merle Chisholm Collier, of Hallettsville, was born on September 15, 1936, to Merlin Leroy Chisholm and Josephine Powell Chisholm; went to be with the Lord, November 30, 2020 at 84 years of age.  She was born in Littlefield, TX and raised in the Littlefield area by her parents.  At the ripe old age of 16, she married her husband of 68 years, Edward Dale Collier, on October 25, 1952.  The first of their three children, Gary Dale was born the next year in Lubbock, TX after which dad whisked them away to El Centro, California, to become a Navy man's wife.  At the conclusion of Navy service, they moved back to Littlefield where baby number two was born, Johanna Lynn.  Four years later and settling in Canyon, TX, and the third and final baby came to Ed and Gwen, Dianna Beth.

While Gwenda and Edward lived in several locations throughout Texas and a couple in Oklahoma, she most recently lived in Hallettsville, TX, before her illness took her to Parkview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she lived out the remainder of her life, ending the morning of November 30, 2020, when her Lord and Savior took her to be with her heavenly family.

Gwenda, affectionately known as "Mama Gwennie" to all (even the adults), helped raise many children along the way.  She loved all children and even cooked for them at her only job (Austwell-Tivoli school cafeteria) outside the home.  She so enjoyed this experience while sewing and embroidering especially dish towels and pillowcases were her hobbies.

Family meant the world to Gwenda, and she would cook and clean up after kids, try to help us solve life's problems but mostly she demonstrated what love was to us without really having to say it a lot or think too hard about what it was.  She was very serious about her relationship with her Savior and would say to anyone reading this to make sure you know where you will spend eternity by taking God up on the gift of his son's life whom died for our sins so that you too can have everlasting life.

Gwenda is survived by:  her husband Edward Dale; son Gary (Debbie); 2 daughters, Lynn (Pete) and Beth (Fur & Feather babies); granddaughters, Lisa (Ronnie), Meaghan (Cody) and Mandi; grandsons, Roddy and Lance; Great-Grand kids, Joshua (Demi) and Kayla; two of six brothers, Gerald and Mike (Linda Lou); a brother-in-law Marvin (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Ann, Debbie and Linda Beth.  She also has many wonderful nieces, nephews, greats and a host of other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

Gwenda was preceded in death by:  her mom and dad; her brothers, Herschel, Norman, Derwood, John; her sisters-in-law, Nita, Toni, Margaret, Bobbie, Virginia; and brothers-in-law, VH, Gene and Dennis.

Services will not be held at this time for Mom.  She is being cremated and her ashes will be taken to the cemetery in Cross Cut, Texas (outside of Brownwood), where we will have a graveside service at some time in the future.
