Grace Rektorik Rother, 90, of Hallettsville, passed away June 25, 2011. She was born on December 16, 1920 to Joe & Mary Blahuta Rektorik in Moravia, Texas, who were both Czechoslovakian descendants. She was the third of five children, four girls and one boy. They lived on a farm in the Moravia community where she also attended school. Grace spent most of her time picking cotton and planting corn with her family. Her fondest memories were of going to Galveston with her family for the day and packing a lunch of fried chicken.

Grace enjoyed going to Appelt's Hill Hall with her brother, Harry, where she met her future husband, Buddy Rother. She married Charles "Buddy" Rother on August 11, 1941 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. Their lives were spent on the dairy and after almost sixty years of marriage. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Grace lived a simple life with her family. She most enjoyed her flowers, polka music, checking cattle, watching TV and going to town with her daughter. In her later years her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought happiness to her life. Grace was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her family and others.

Grace is survived by: son Charles Rother Jr. & wife Mary Ann of Shiner; daughter Sharon Janak of Hallettsville; 2 sisters, Gloria Baker of Schulenburg, and Viola Goebel of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren, Miranda Henke & husband Roman, Barron Janak & wife Ginny, Marlene Irvin & husband Doug, Amy Adamek & husband David, Jennifer Machacek & husband Russell, and Alice Leonard & husband Chad; and 13 great grandchildren, Cassy Tucker, Garrett Henke, Dustin Adamek, Mary Adamek, Abby Irvin, Anna Adamek, Ella Janak, Grace Irvin, Ted Machacek, Julia Machacek, Sally Machacek, Jack Leonard, and Levi Leonard.

Grace was preceded in death by: her husband Buddy; son Louis Frank Rother; parents; son-in-law Benedict A. Janak; brother Harry Rektorik, and sister Gladys Lux.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 3 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Barron Janak, Roman Henke, Garrett Henke, Doug Irvin, David Adamek, Russell Machacek, Chad Leonard, and Dustin Adamek. Memorials: Charity of Your Choice. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
