Obituary

Grace Ann Konvicka, 87, of Austin, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Austin, Texas.She was born in Moravia on August 20, 1929 to Jim J. and Vera Holub Konvicka. She attended Moravia school and graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1946. She worked for Texas State Department of Public Welfare and retired after 50 years of service. She was a member Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Austin.

Grace was very successful in the stock market and was an avid investor. She was very accomplished at crosswords and completed the New York Times crossword puzzle every day. She loved playing the slots, especially in Louisiana. She loved her family and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of them.

Grace is survived by: two sisters, Marjorie McCaslin of Austin and Vern Janis of East Bernard; brother, Jimmie Konvicka & wife Benni of Stephenville; seven nephews, Kenneth Konvicka & wife Cheryl of Garland, Kurt McCaslin & wife Carolyn of Spring Branch, Chad McCaslin & wife Rochelle of Garland, Shawn McCaslin & wife Sarretta of Austin, Neal McCaslin & wife Vanelle of Houston, N.J. Janis & wife Wendy of Huffman, and Jim Konvicka & wife Janna of Belton; five nieces, Debbie Nelson & husband Mike of Apex, NC, Wanda Janis of Sugarland, Tish Babin of East Bernard, Kay Kay Davis & husband Charlie of Huntsville, and Jennifer Flory & husband Roger of Temple; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry Konvicka, her sister Rita Broz, and her brother-in-law Norbert Janis.

Funeral Mass Service: 11:30 am, Monday, December 12, 2016, at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia. Visitation: 5 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary at 6 pm. Pallbearers (nephews): Kurt McCaslin, Chad McCaslin, Shawn McCaslin, Neal McCaslin, N.J. Janis, Jim Konvicka, Charlie Davis, and Roger Flory. Honorary Pallbearers (nieces): Debbie Nelson, Wanda Janis, Tish Babin, Kay Kay Davis, and Jennifer Flory. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia or Donor's Choice. Burial: Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery.
