Georgie Ann Etzler, 86, of Hallettsville, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018. She was born in Hallettsville on August 26, 1931 to the late Peter & Christina Belicek Kristek. She married Herbert Etzler on October 10, 1950 at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia, and was blessed with 67 years of marriage and 5 children.
Georgie was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was a great homemaker and an excellent cook with her homemade bread and stew being everyone's favorite. Being a creative seamstress, she sewed all of the clothes for her daughters and herself. Even though she was busy with the household duties, she also helped with the farm work. She also instilled in her family the importance of God and prayer. After obtaining her driver's license in the 1970's, she worked at the Sacred Heart School cafeteria for 21 years, from 1975 to 1996. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and gambling trips to Louisiana. Due to her illness, Hallettsville Rehab & Nursing Center became her home in June 2015.
Georgie is survived by: her children, Barbara Patek of Katy, Sandra Migl & husband Paul, Diane Kallus & husband Joseph, and Gary Etzler & wife Dolly, all of Hallettsville; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister Evelyn Henke of Hallettsville; and sister-in-law Vicky Wagner of Schulenburg.
