Obituary

Mr. George J. Pauler, 84, of Hallettsville, died Dec. 9, 2006. He was born on Oct. 28, 1922 to August Joe & Albina Barton Pauler in Dubina, Texas. He married Bertha Emerson Pauler on May 5, 1957 in Wharton, Texas.

George was a veteran in the United States Marine Corps were he received the Purple Heart Medal in the Pacific Theater of Operation during WWII, member of the V.F.W., 16 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Lavaca County, 10 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Wharton, and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

George is survived by: 2 daughters, LaVerne Bain of Louise, Texas, and Catherine Peters of Victoria; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by: wife Bertha; daughter Ellen Harding; parents August Joe & Albina Barton Pauler; and brother Edwin Pauler.

Service: 2pm, Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: Noon, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home, and 1:30pm, Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: John Peters, George Peters, Billy Bain, Clint Bain, Mark Bain, and Bryant Rowton. Honorary Pallbearers: Former Sheriff Robert Wurm and his deputies and staff that served with him.
