George Garlan    Harris, 84, of Hallettsville, passed away February 7, 2017. He was born on August 12, 1932 in Drew, Mississippi. He married Nellie Rae Farmer on Dec. 23, 1979 in Bay City. He worked for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a supervisor at a cannery. He was a member of Faith Family Church of Hallettsville. George was also a proud Republican, served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War.

George is survived by: 1 daughter Mikki Lynn Hill of Austin; 1 step- son, Matt Southall & wife Gail of Hallettsville; 3 step- daughters, Debra Emmons & husband John of Palacios, Vivian Orr & husband Mark of Matagorda, and Kim Mangum & husband Jeff of Shiner; 2 brothers Jay Harris and Dickie Harris; 1 sister Honoree Waldrip; 1 brother-in-law William Farmer; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 1 sister; 3 brothers and 1 grandchild Susan Emmons.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at Faith Family church of Hallettsville.

Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home.

Officiate: Pastor Joe Clauson.

Burial: Willow Creek Cemetery.
