Obituary

Fred Frank Pustejovsky Sr., 88, of Hallettsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. He was born on December 30, 1921 to Julius & Annie Konvicka Pustejovsky in Hallettsville. He married Angeline Chudej Pustejovsky on February 13, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. They were married for 63 years.

Fred grew up on the farm in Hallettsville until he was drafted into the Medical Depot Division during World War II. After coming home from the war, Fred and his brother, Ludwig, opened Pustejovsky Motor Company in Hallettsville in 1946. They sold Kaiser and Frazier automobiles. In 1952, Angeline joined her husband as sole owners of their Texaco gas station with full service mechanics. After the devastating flood of 1981, he retired from the business in 1983. They had worked the family business for approximately 37 years.

In his retirement, Fred devoted most of his time to cattle, gardening, and farm activities that included pecan harvesting. He had two cattle places – one at Old Kinkler and one on his father's land off FM 530. Fred was a hard working man both in business and retirement. He will always be remembered for his hard work, for the tractor rides he gave his grandchildren, and for the one dollar bills and nutty bars that he gave his great-grandchildren. He also loved to play "42" dominoes with family and friends.

Fred was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 230, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6382.
