Obituary

Franklin R. Billimek, 90, of Hallettsville, passed away Nov. 1, 2017. He was born on June 19, 1927 to Rudolph L. & Anastasia Raab Billimek in Shiner. He married Johanna "Janie" Zissa on Feb. 12, 1952 in Shiner.

Franklin sold Chevrolet cars for 43 years and was the Mayor of Hallettsville from 1977-1983.  He was a veteran of WWII; member of the American Legion, Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department for 62 yrs., the Hermann Sons Lodge for 62 yrs., the Lions Club for 60 years, the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville and Hallettsville City Council for many many years.

Franklin is survived by: 2 daughters, Karen Billimek of Victoria, and Lynette Langhamer & husband Alvin of Schulenburg; 2 grandchildren, Shaye Roskey & husband Brantley, and Shannon Schmidt & husband Bradley; and 6 great grandchildren, Jonathon Urban, Cole Urban, Jacob Evans, Jordyn Evans, Joshua Zatopek, and Jayce Hermes.

Franklin was preceded in death by; wife Janie, parents, grandson Blake Whitfield, and great grandson Jaxon Hermes

Funeral Mass Service: 11am, Monday, November 6, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 6 pm. Pallbearers: Brantley Roskey, Ronnie Hornisher, Jonathon Urban, Joshua Zatopek, Forrest Sevcik, and Allen Grahmann. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church Compassionate Care Hospice (3833 South Texas Avenue Suite 200, Bryan, TX 7780) or Charity of Your Choice. Burial: 2 pm, Monday, Nov. 6, at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
