Frankie's employment started early at local filling stations. Throughout the next few years, he was employed at the Bradbary store in Speaks, Texas, North Texas Oil Company in Fort Stockton, and later transferred to Buna, Texas where he worked at the East Texas Paper Mill. In 1967, Frankie moved his family back to the Ezzell Community and began working for Alcoa, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement, he spent the majority of his time taking care of his cattle and other animals around the farm which he very much enjoyed. He was also a dedicated member of the American Legion.
Frankie is survived by: 3 sons, Frankie Lee McElroy & wife Becky of Hallettsville, Donald Ray McElroy & wife Angie of Yoakum, and Ronald Clay McElroy & wife Barbara of Hallettsville; 7 grandchildren, Brady & Shelby McElroy, Amanda McElroy Jasek & husband Josh, Courtney McElroy Yarborough & husband Donny, Ryan & Kristi McElroy, and Katie McElroy; 6 great grandchildren, Greenlie & Belle Jasek, Kylie & Kenzie McElroy, and Edyn & Eylen McElroy; and special friend Celia Ann Kruse.
Frankie was preceded in death by: wife Mary Alice McElroy; parents; 6 brothers, Henry Clay, Carl, Morris, James, Bennett Ray, and John Williams McElroy; sister Annie Lois Wienken; and great grandchild Eaven McElroy.
Funeral Service: 2 pm, Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Gene Bujnoch, Daryl McElroy, Allen McElroy, Ryan McElroy, Daniel Jalufka Jr., and Kurt Ursrey. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or School, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
