Frances Sciba, 97, of Hallettsville, passed away Aug. 7, 2015. She was born on May 28, 1918 in Moravia, to Joseph & Frances Hanslik Holik Sr. She grew up in Moravia with her older siblings; Willie, Emil, Julius, Joseph Jr., Frank Holik and Clara and Emily Mozisek.
She married Herman Sciba on Oct. 4, 1937 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia, TX. They were blessed with their son Robert, daughter-in-law Florence Bolech Sciba; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a long-life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Herman and Frances spent their life in Witting, where she was a homemaker and seamstress. Many of her hobbies were; gardening, baking, sewing, playing dominoes, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Frances spent her last 6 years in Stevens Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo.
Frances is survived by: her son Robert Sciba & wife Florence; four grandchildren, Bruce Sciba & wife Laura, Russell Sciba, Marcia Nieto & husband Richard, and Rhonda Patek & husband Kevin; and eight great grandchildren, Carissa, Brandon and Anthony Sciba; Madison, Trent and Landry Nieto; and Wade and Cami Patek.
Frances was preceded in death by: husband Herman, parents, and siblings.
We thank God for her long life and many wonderful memories.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at6 pm. Pallbearers: Bruce Sciba, Russell Sciba, Brandon Sciba, Anthony Sciba, Marvin Holik, and Gilbert Mozisek. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: St. Mary's Altar Society, Hospice of South Texas or Donor's Choice. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
