Obituary

Frances Melnar, 92, of Hallettsville, passed away on Mar. 2, 1020. She was born Nov. 17, 1917 to John & Frances Smolik Muhlstein Sr. in Lavaca County, Texas. She married Emil E. Melnar on Nov. 10, 1941 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. She was a member of the Christen Sisters of Vsetin, 50 year member of S.P.J.S.T., and Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin.

Frances was a wonderful mom, grandma, and great grandma; who baked the best pies, cakes and kolaches. She helped her husband with the farm work and always found time to sew and make beautiful quilts.

Frances is survived by: 2 daughters, Earlene Muenster of Hallettsville, and Charlene Biehunko & husband Dwayne of Shiner; sister-in-law Lou Muhlstein of Schulenburg; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by: husband Emil; parents; 2 sisters Albina Krizak and Emilie Muhlstein; 3 brothers, John Jr., Ludwig, and Emil; and 2 son-in-laws, Elmer Muenster and Eugene Holub.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, Mar. 6, 2010 at Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin, Texas. Visitation: 3 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Prayer Service: 7 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiates: Rev. Mark Labja and Rev. Darrin Holub. Pallbearers: Chad Maywald, Steven Lambert, Rodney Muenster, Jim Bujnoch, David Melnar, Rev. Darrin Holub, and Kenneth Krizak. Honorary Pallbearers: the great grandchildren, and Victor and Virgil Smajstrla. Burial: Vsetin Cemetery. Memorials: Czech Moravian Brethren Church.
