IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Marie
Kallus
October 2, 1952 – October 17, 2015
Frances Marie Kallus, 63, of Hallettsville, passed away Oct. 17, 2015. She was born on Oct. 2, 1952, to Frank B. & Bernadette Sobotik Bludau in Hallettsville. She married Henry J. Kallus on July 21, 1973 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Frances can best be remembered as a hard-worker whether it was on the farm or working as a nurse. Frances loved to work on the farm. She might be known as the hardest-working woman in Hallettsville. She loved picking pecans and it was her favorite time of the year as she worked alongside the love of her life, Henry. Henry and Frances were married for 42 wonderful years.
Frances devoted her time to Sacred Heart School and pioneered the Extravaganza. Henry remembers Frances's mom, Bernadette, bringing over recipes to try. Sarah, Jessica, and Jennifer also helped the "Queen of Hors d'oeuvers" with the Extravaganza. After all of the work was finished, Frances was sure to have a good time with those attending the Extravaganza.
To Frances' family she was known as the "crazy aunt" and the "kissing aunt" as she chased her nephews around to kiss them as she wore her red lipstick. She was always the one to brighten up family gatherings with her antics and her genuine personality that was sure to make anyone smile.
Siblings recognized her as "the boss" and the "prettiest sister." She was ready to make her siblings laugh and give advice solicited or not. Frances was especially close to her dad, Frank Bludau and mom, Bernadette Bludau.
To her in-laws she was known as having fun at the dances Henry played at and having a good time.
In addition to Henry, Frances was blessed with the birth of her grandson, Henley Frank Lesikar on December 26, 2013. Frances was present the night he was born and continued to be of presence in his life. He enjoyed going for a "ride" with "Mamaw" and feeding cubes to the cows. Henley was "her little boy" and the "apple of her eye."
Daughters recognize her as a mother who made breakfast every morning and was never late. In 18 years of driving her daughters to school, Frances was only late to school one time due to a flat tire. When she picked us up from practices she had our favorite drink ready and always had a warm supper at home. Jennifer remembers her senior year during basketball season Mom wanted to go to a playoff game, but wasn't comfortable to drive in San Antonio. Mom became a "cheer mom" and rode the cheerleader bus. If there was a way to get there-she would!
The past five years have been a whirl of emotions, but Frances would not want us to remember her as only a person who fought cancer, but as a person who lived life. Always laugh and smile as Frances always did and would want us to do the same.
Frances is survived by: her husband Henry; 3 daughters, Sarah Lesikar & husband Shane of Schulenburg, Jessica Kallus of Austin, and Jennifer Kallus of Yorktown; 6 siblings, Frank Bludau & wife Darlene of Hallettsville, Shirley Bludau & husband Mike Grimes of Houston, Anthony Bludau & wife Joyce of Hallettsville, Stephen Bludau & wife Renee of Hallettsville, Audrey Poche' & husband James of Leander, and Brenda Youngblood & husband Jon of Frisco, TX; parents Frank B. & Bernadette Sobotik Bludau of Hallettsville, ; and grandson Henley Lesikar.
