Obituary

Frances A. Cordova, 97, of Houston, passed away September 7, 2011, at home with her family at her side. She was born on February 14, 1914 to Andrew L. & Alma Pohl Brown in Hallettsville. Her early education was at Rabb Switch Community. She later graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1931. After graduation, she went to Cuero to work in the cotton gin. During World War II, she moved to Pasadena, Texas to work as a welder in the shipyard.

Frances married Thomas Cordova on May 17, 1947 in Houston. They had 2 daughters, and she worked as a meat wrapper. They moved to Hallettsville in 1976, to spend their retirement years. As a widow, she returned to live in Houston area with her daughter until her passing

Frances is survived by: 2 daughters, Brenda Kristoff of Houston, and Beverly Housley & husband Don of Houston; sister Elouise Pugh of Houston; 4 grandchildren, Keith & Karrie Kristoff, Lori & Tommy Housley; and 2 great grandchildren, Klayton & Konner Kristoff.

Frances was preceded in death by: her husband Thomas, of 45 years; parents; sister Mattie Ivey Woytek; and brother Andrew Forrest Brown.

Funeral Service (a celebration of the life of Frances): 10 am, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 5 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Terry Horton. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
