IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florine Menking
Brocker
April 18, 1914 – November 9, 2006
On October 18, 1934 she married Maxie Kahn Brocker in the Lavaca County Courthouse. They made their home in Hallettsville and their son, Maxie Paul Brocker was born.
Florine graduated from Hallettsville High School and Southwest Texas Teacher College in San Marcos. She was a public teacher at the Radhost, Seclusion, and Williamsburg Schools in Lavaca County. Florine also volunteered at Stevens Convalescent Center for many years and was always available to help her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs, and enjoyed spending time in her park amongst her beautiful plants and flowers. She also liked to cook and made sure no guest at her house went unfed. Until arthritis twisted her fingers to the point that she could no longer hold a needle, Florine enjoyed the art of embroidery and kept her mind sharp working crossword puzzles until her eye-sight began to fade. Florine taught her family the value of a good education and the importance of attending church and worshipping regularly. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Edmund "Ed" Menking, Lydia Menking, Louis Menking, Ella Hatcher, Victor Menking, Hattie Powers, Ernest Menking, Hulda Hoffman, and an infant brother. Florine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Maxie Paul and Lanell Brocker; her granddaughter Barbara Vasek and husband Alvin, her granddaughter Brenda Migl and husband Jerry; her great-grandchildren Gary Migl, Justin Vasek, and Vanessa Vasek; her great-great-grandson Clayton Joseph Migl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
