Fidencio "Lanch" Barrera, 66, of Crowley, passed away July 1, 2013. He was born on Nov. 16, 1946 to Guadalupe & Otilia Gutierrez Barrera Sr. in Hallettsville. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Oralia Ramos on Feb. 14, 2004 in Angleton.

Lanch is survived by: his wife Oralia; son Douglas McDonald of Florida; 2 step-sons, Randall Smith & wife Renee of Sweeny, and William Smith & wife Cleo of Crowley; 3 brothers, Joe Barrera of Hallettsville, Norbert Barrera of Schulenburg, and Ben Barrera of Utah; 3 sisters, Minnie Rollins of Weimar, Genoveva DeLaRosa, and Josie Reynolds of Hallettsville; and 8 grandchildren.

Lanch was preceded in death by: his parents; and 3 brothers, Johnnye, Andrew, and Lupe Barrera.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Randy Smith, Michael Smith, Victor Rivera, Raymond Charles Rollins, Dwayne Reynolds, and David Barrera. Honorary Pallbearers (brothers & sisters): Josie, Minnie, Genovena, Ben, Joe, and Norbert. Memorials: .American Cancer Society or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
