Evelyn E. Rother-Tobola, 98, of Hallettsville, TX enjoyed a blessed and full life before being called home on Saturday, October 9, 2021.  She was born on November 29, 1922, to William and Matilda Rother.  Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  On August 10, 1942, she married her sweetheart Victor Tobola of Hallettsville, TX.

Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, & great grandmother.  She was warm, sweet, affectionate, compassionate, and had a wonderful sense of humor with a laugh that was contagious.  Evelyn had the most stunning blue eyes & brightest smile.  Her mind was sharp as a tack & she remembered everything with great detail.  She knew no strangers & was quick to make friends.  She left a lasting impression on all who knew her & was admired by many.

Evelyn worked at The Smokehouse as a cook for 42 years, she stopped working in 2007 at the age of 85 when the restaurant was sold.  Evelyn enjoyed working & everyone she worked with called her grandma.  Evelyn loved to cook & her pickles were highly requested by family members.

Evelyn enjoyed spending time with family & friends, making wine, cooking, canning, playing dominos, and listening to Polka music.  She also enjoyed the many animals on her farm.  She would watch Wheel of Fortune every evening while sitting in her rocking chair with her beloved dog, Hannah on the floor next to her.

Evelyn blessed her family & friends with 98 wonderful years.  We all have God to be thankful for the time he allowed us to have with such a beautiful & amazing lady.

Evelyn will forever be loved and missed by those who survived her: 4 sons – Edward Tobola & wife Lucy of Giddings, TX, Jim Tobola & wife Shirley of Giddings, TX, Donnie Tobola & wife Libbie of Smithville, TX, Ronny Tobola & wife Judy of Hallettsville, TX; Daughters – Margaret Tobola-Smith & Linda Tobola both of Hallettsville, TX; Brother Leonard Rother & wife Janette of Victoria, TX; Sister in-law Kay Rother of Hallettsville, TX; 16 Grandchildren – Melissa Tobola; Gary Tobola & wife Sarah; Karen Tobola-Frische & husband Robert; Randy Tobola; James Tobola & wife Denise; David Tobola & wife Mandi; Rachel Tobola-Ellis & husband Phillip; Joey Tobola & wife Kristina; Tammy Smith-Rack; Tina Tobola-Chovanetz & husband Kevin; Vicki Tobola; Ashley Tobola; Brittney Tobola; Jaime Tobola & Shannon Goebel; Jason Tobola & wife Heather; Julie Tobola-Stratton & husband Joel; and 28 Great-Grandchildren.

Evelyn's family is comforted by the assurance that she is resting in the arms of Jesus & joyful to be reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her: husband Victor Tobola; parents William & Matilda Rother; Brothers – Herman Rother & Edwin Rother; Sister – Adela Rother-Filla; Daughter – Carolyn Tobola; and Grandchild – Baby Girl Tobola.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with Visitation: 9:30 am; and Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Pallbearers: James Tobola, David Tobola, Joey Tobola, Gary Tobola, Randy Tobola, Jason Tobola and Sebastian Machado. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
