Evelyn Marie Ponton Stinnett, 90, of Ezzell, passed from the earth on January 21, 2020. She was born to Bennett and Allie Rae Ponton on December 28, 1929 at home in Ezzell, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Stinnett, son David "Rusty" Stinnett, and sons-in-law Lester Harrison & Dana Tanner.
As a 7th generation Texan, Evelyn had a passion for art and Texas history. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and spent many hours volunteering for local elections. She could often be heard discussing her research on the Ponton family and their place in the history of the Texas Republic. She was a talented artist, who enjoyed painting rustic scenery of Texas bluebonnets and barns. She was a member of Ezell Church of Christ, where she was an active member of the Women's Bible Study group until her health began to decline.
Evelyn is survived by: her sons, Bob Stinnett & wife Carla, Barney Stinnett & wife Sherry, and Bruce Stinnett & wife Angie; daughters Rebecca Tanner, Ramona Harrison, and Robbie Logan & husband Mike; daughter-in-law Jennifer Stinnett; grandchildren, Joel Stinnett, Lorelei Jackson, Jeremy Stinnett, Matthew Stinnett, Garrett Harrison, Ricky Harrison, NaCole Cato, Bridgett Tanner, Jacob Tanner, Joshua Tanner, Eric Stinnett, Casey Stinnett and Heather Stinnett; and great-grandchildren, Dominic Cierra, Carson Stinnett, Elliott Stinnett, Tobin Byers, Julianna Jackson, Austin Jackson Jr., Alaina Harrison, Brett Harrison, Olivia Tanner, Bree Tanner, Jacob Tanner Jr. and Lucas Tanner.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Evelyn Stinnett on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11:00 am at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, Texas; with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Pallbearers: Garrett Harrison, Dominic Cierra, Jeremy Stinnett, Austin Jackson, Joey Stinnett, Carson Stinnett and Matthew Stinnett. Honorary Pallbearers: Austin Jackson Jr., Elliott Stinnett and Tobin Byers. Interment will follow the service at Salem Cemetery in Ezzell, Texas.
