Eva Lee married Lester Thigpen on June 6, 1931. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1988 after being married 57 years. Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother Virgie McNeill King; four brothers, Otis, J.D., Hearnie, and Major Penn King; and one sister Oleta Pearl Stephens.
Eva Lee is survived by one sister Virginia Rae Smith of Hallettsville; two sister-in-laws, Wanda King and Mildred Thigpen; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Eva Lee attended Hallettsville High School where she graduated with the class of 1931. After moving to Corpus Christi, Texas, she worked for Sears Roebuck as Head Cashier for 25 years, and was a Nurse's Aid at Spohn Hospital during World War II. She and Lester belonged to the Winnebago Club and always enjoyed the Winnebago outings they attended. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church.
Service: 2 pm, Saturday, November, 4, 2006 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: Noon, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home, with the family receiving visitors between 5 pm to 7 pm that Friday. Officiate: Rev. Leon Smothers. Burial: Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tommy Smith, Lester Little, Brian Thigpen, David Harris, Wesley Corporon, and Ryan Little. Memorials: Salem Baptist Church of Hallettsville.
