IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eugene
Tykal
September 16, 1926 – June 17, 2018
Eugene Tykal, 91, of Moravia, TX, passed away on Father's Day, June 17, 2018. He was born on September 16, 1926 to Charles & Katherine Cinadr Tykal in Moulton, TX. He was a member of the VFW in Moulton and Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia.
Gene married Dorothy Janecka on December 27, 1952. Together they raised 6 children; Susan, Howard, Joe (Doris), Kenny (Elsa), Lisa (Randy), and Tammy (Daniel). He was "Papa Gene" to: 6 grandchildren, Tracy (Philip), Travis (Kyleigh), Kelsey (Brandon), Michael (Jasmine), Jazz (Adrian), and Savannah; and 5 great grandchildren, Brodie, Paris, Westyn, Tripp, Jayden, and a new baby girl due in August; and numerous step-grandchildren & step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John and sister-n-law, Bea. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy of 61 years, who passed away in 2013.
Gene served in the Army as a military policeman from 1945 to 1948, and served tours of duty to include Hawaii and Japan. As a carpenter by trade, Gene worked in Houston until his retirement. He couldn't wait to get back to Schulenburg and a simpler lifestyle. His passion was gardening and sharing his produce with friends and family. He treasured the summer vacations at the Tyndall in Bolivar, and holiday gatherings at Addie's Place in High Hill. He enjoyed Friday night Bingo, Saturday night church, Sunday picnics and spending time with friends. A simple man with a huge heart!
The nail is a rugged symbol of hard work, inner strength and independence. All of these traits define the man we know as our hero, our rock, our Dad.
Because of your guidance, love, and patience – "we are all going to be okay"!
The family would like to thank the staff at Plantation Assisted Living for the care they provided Eugene, Grace Hospice for their support, and all of our friends and family for their prayers, emotional strength, and love.
