Obituary

Gene Schindler, 65, of Hallettsville, passed away March 11, 2010. He was born on October 22, 1944 to Fred Vinc & Pauline Sciba Schindler in Hallettsville. He married Elaine Sitka Schindler on July 23, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. He was a member of Army National Guard, Knights of Columbus, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Gene loved hunting, fishing, and attended football and baseball games. He enjoyed visiting all the local pubs and being with his family and friends. He was well known for telling jokes of all kinds. Mostly he enjoyed working and tending with his Brahma cattle.

Gene is survived by: his wife Elaine; 2 sons, Troy Schindler & wife Lisa of Sheridan, and Ken Schindler & wife Melissa of Victoria; 2 brothers, Gilbert Schindler & wife Mary Rose of Hallettsville, and Bill Schindler of Houston; sister Lucille Wenglar of Sugarland; sister-in-law Helen Schindler of Houston; 2 grandchildren, Malory and Tait Schindler; and step grandchild Kaleb Denison.

Gene was preceded in death by: his parents, brother John Henry Schindler, and nephew Gregory Schindler.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Monday, March 15, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 3 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 6 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiates: Rev. John Peters, and Rev. Charles Sonnier. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robert Sciba, Brandon Grubert, Todd Schindler, John Mares, Ronnie Bollom, and Darrell Wenglar. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Koerth.
