Eugene Frank Mucala, born on October 10, 1946, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Linda "Holt" Mucala on October 23, 21011. Gene was a lifelong resident of Hallettsville. He served the community as a city reserve officer, EMT, and also delivered meals on wheels. He was a driver for the Hallettsville and Ezzell School districts, sales building contractor for Morgan Buildings, and also worked at Alamo Concrete and Applejack Trucking.

Gene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and volunteered as usher, the American Legion, and the Crossroads Equestrian Club. He served in the National Guard in the 60's. His favorite past-time was spending time with his horses and dogs.

Gene was preceded in death by: his wife Linda, his sister Leona Haase, his parents Frank & Bessie Mucala, and sister-in-law Rhonda Jean Ware &husband Michael.

Gene is survived by: his sister Gladys Koval & husband George, mother-in-law Erna Faye Reid Holt; sister-in-laws, Kathryn Laverne Shults & husband Richard, and Patricia Ann Thurber & husband Arlyn; brother-in-law Leon Dwayne "Cotton" Holt & wife Kathy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass Service: 1:30 pm, Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Wednesday at Kubena Funeral Home; and Visitation starting at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 am, Thursday . Rosary: 1 pm, Thursday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Gary Haase, Christopher Koval, William Holt, Gary "Scooter" Herbert, Jordan Faust, and Jim Jakubek. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Crossroads Equestrian Club, or the American Cancer Society. Burial: Salem Cemetery, Ezzell, Texas.
