Eugene has for the last five years been taken care of by his daughter Dolly, up until recently, was put into a Nursing Home. We would like to thank several special people there who were very caring to him; Brenda Grey, Maranda, Jaimie, Felicia Nissi, Charlie, BB, and Karla. I know you all made his day, many times, by your hug and kisses.
Eugene served in the Army from 1938 to 1945. While serving he received the Purple Heart Medal; the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 bronze service stars for the Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns and a Bronze Arrowhead for participation in combat glider landing; the Good Conduct Medal; and the American Defense Service Medal.
Eugene was a Master Journeyman Electrician for 62 years, where he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Eugene is survived by: his wife Irene; daughters Dolly and Dianne of Hallettsville; son Jimmie & wife Francine; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Eugene was preceded in death by; his daughter Darlene, great granddaughter Noel, parents, brothers, and sister.
Visitation: 3 pm, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Kubena Funeral Home; with the family receiving visitors from 4 pm to 6 pm. Graveside Service: 10 am, Monday, at Hallettsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Edmund Koerth, Darrell Boethel, Jimmie Koerth, Cheyenne Stehle, Dustin Couch, Cody Couch, Larry Koerth, and Jason Stapleton. Officiate: Mr. John E. Schroeder Sr. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Alzheimer's Association or Bluebonnet Youth Ranch.
