Obituary

Mrs. Ethel C. Bludau, 83, of Hallettsville, died Nov. 26, 2008. She was born on Sept. 11, 1925 to Arthur & Hilda Petrich Claus in Hallettsville, Texas. She married Hubert A. Bludau on Sept. 22, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. She retired after being employed with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., later she was employed by Sears Catalog Sales in Hallettsville. She was a founding member of the Hallettsville area voluntary transportation committee for the American Cancer Society; also a member of The Christian Mothers Society, The Catholic Daughters of Americas, The American Legion Auxiliary, pass president of the local American Cancer Society, Hallettsville Garden Club, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ethel's free time was spent playing dominos, fishing, sitting at home in the gazebo, and at the top of the list was socializing with family and friends. She looked forward to her Thursday beauty shop appointments. She also enjoyed traveling abroad as well as with in the states. Ethel loved visiting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking for her family at gatherings for holidays, birthdays and special occasions was a chore of love that she greatly enjoyed.

Ethel is survived by: 3-sons, Carl H. Bludau & wife Rudie Kay of Victoria, Everett A. Bludau & wife Pam of Hallettsville, and David J. Bludau & wife Joyce of Victoria; 2-daughters, Janet R. Hornischer & husband Ronnie of Sugarland, Joan A. Rodgers & husband Luke of Conroe; sister Dorothy Satcher of Canyon Lake; 11-grandchildren, Timothy Bludau, Bradley Bludau, Jeremy Bludau, Meaghan Bludau, Garrett Bludau, Tiffany Bludau, Brandon Bludau, Vanessa Bludau, Jeffrey Hornischer, Haley Hornischer, and Adam Rodgers; and 3-great-grandchildren, Madison and Laney Rodgers, and Patrick Bludau.

Ethel was preceded in death by: husband Hubert on Jan. 16, 2007; parents; 2 sisters, Louise Claus and Eileen Meisetschlaeger; and 3 brothers, Winfred, Marvin, and August Claus.

Service: 1 pm, Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 1 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Rosary: 6 pm, Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Granddaughters and Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers: Christians Mothers and Catholic Daughters of Americas. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart School Operating Fund or Donor's Choice.
