IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emogene
Kahanek
March 15, 1935 – April 17, 2011
Emogene married Leon "Red" Kahanek on February 12, 1961 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. She was a member of the Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Emogene loved to paint landscape pictures, many of which are still hanging in family and friends homes. She loved supporting her sons and grandchildren in their sporting events, which include football, baseball, cheerleading, and little league. She loved deer hunting, horseback riding, and gardening. She was especially proud of her beautiful roses. She made the best mashed potatoes and canned pickles around. She spent many days at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo where Red was a life member. She was very dedicated to her family and friends, and holiday celebrations were very memorable. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Emogene is survived by: her husband Red; 2 sons, Leon Kahanek III, and Robert Kahanek & wife Karen, all of Hallettsville; brother J.C.
