Obituary

Mr. Emil W. Hajek, 78, of Hallettsville, died Thursday, November 22, 2007. He was born on September 5, 1929 in Shiner, Texas to the late Emil and Lillie Ermis Hajek. Mr. Hajek was loved dearly by his family and countless friends. He was a respected businessman for many years in Shiner and Hallettsville and was widely renowned for his knowledge and love of John Deere tractors.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II and received the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal in Japan.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Viola Kruse Hajek of Hallettsville; his daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Don McIntosh of Moulton, and Sandra and Alan Campbell of Hallettsville; grandchildren, Jennifer Bozeman and husband Bobby of Frisco, Texas; Shaun Gerrard and wife Terri of Pflugerville, Texas, Ross Hrncir of Hallettsville, and Russel Hrncir and his finance, Autumn Lovett of Victoria; and great-grandchildren, Maxwell Bozeman and Caroline Hrncir. He is also survived by his brother Johnnie F. Hajek, of Austin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene J. Hajek.

Visitation will start at 2 pm Monday, November 26 at Kubena Funeral Home Chapel in Hallettsville, with the Rosary at 7pm.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Graveside services will be held at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Ross Hrncir, Russel Hrncir, Shaun Gerrard, Richard Thompson, Gene J. Hajek Jr., and Johnnie F. Hajek Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Tasler, E.J. Tasler, Robet Tasler, Michael Tasler, Wade Jahn, Pat Hrncir, Leroy Etzler, and Franklin Billimek.

The family is thankful and appreciative of the excellent care provided by Hill Country Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gonzales, Texas, and Hospice of South Texas. In lieu of flowers , the family requests that contributions be made in Mr. Hajek's name to Hospice of South Texas or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
