Emil A. Grahmann, 84, of Hallettsville, passed away Jan. 7, 2015. He was born on Oct. 3, 1930, to Alfons A. & Cecilia Huser Grahmann in Hallettsville. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Emil is survived by: 2 brothers, Bernard Grahmann & wife Mary of Hallettsville, Clarence Grahmann of Edna; sister Marguerite Grahmann of Hallettsville; nieces & nephews; and great nieces & nephews.
Emil was a quiet but compassionate man. He lived on the family homestead in Lavaca County for most of his life. He enjoyed taking care of the farm, raising cattle and other farm animals, plowing, growing hay and working with his tractor. He also enjoyed taking care of his pet dogs. Emil spent most of his time outdoors and staying busy on the farm, doing things that he enjoyed. He was a friendly man who was willing to help out those in need, whether they were a long-time friend, or a stranger he just met.
Emil attended school at Fuller School in southeast Lavaca County, until his family moved their homestead to the Vysehrad area. As a young adult, he worked in Hallettsville at J. Weingarten Inc. for a several years. He then worked at the Senior Citizens Center in Hallettsville. He spent the last several years of his life at a nursing home, where he enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo.
Emil was preceded in death by: parents; sister Magdalen Mary Muras and brother-in-law Cleo Muras; brother Hilbert Grahmann; and sister-in-law Evelyn Grahmann.
Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home; with a Rosary at 6 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: John Cordes, Stephen Grahmann, Ronald Huser, Jason Krobot, Ed Martinez, and Patrick Parma. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Donor's Choice.
