Elroy O. Fertsch, 87, of Hallettsville, passed away Dec. 10, 2014. He was born on Nov. 21, 1927 to Edmund & Martha Schaefer Fertsch in Hallettsville. He married Mary Ellen Cleveland on Aug. 12, 1961 (53 years) in Houston. He was member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Lutheran Men, life member of Appelt's Hill Gun Club, and devoted member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. He has served as manager of the American Legion Bingo, Quartermaster in the V.F.W., and Board of Directors of the American Legion.

Elroy is survived by: wife Mary; step son George Bayliss & wife Sandra of Hallettsville; step daughter Karen Bock of Willis, TX; 6 step grandchildren; and 7 step great grandchildren.

Elroy was preceded in death by: his parents, brother Wilburn Fertsch, and step son David Lee Bayliss.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home; with a Pray Service at 7 pm. Officiant: Pastor Andy Taylor. Pallbearers: Bruce Bayliss, Brian Bayliss, Brent Bayliss, J.R. Barroso, Chris Barroso, and Kyle Barroso. Honorary Pallbearers: Tory Barroso, Erika Crider, Joey Crider, Cole Crider, Braelyn Bayliss, Reid Banks, Makinley Harvell, Gary Schwartz, Robert Womack, Barry Suterland, and the American Legion & V.F.W. members. Burial: Old Kinkler Cemetery. Memorials: St. Peter Lutheran Church or Hospice of South Texas.
