Obituary

Ellanora A. "Ellie" Fojt, 96, of Hallettsville, passed away April 5, 2013.

Ellie was born on Aug. 28, 1916 to Willie M. & Frances Pustejovsky Walters in Hobson, in Karnes County, TX. She was one of five children and was second to the youngest. Her parents moved back to Lavaca County in Oct. 1918 and settled on a farm in the Bila Hora Community. There she went to Oakland School.

Ellie married Emil Alois "Cap" Fojt on Sept. 15, 1936. They lived in the Bila Hora Community all their married life. In 1948, they bought their parent's farm, as they wanted to move to Hallettsville and farmed and ranched for a living, and for about 15 years, she and her husband managed a small ranch next to their land for Mr. & Mrs. A.J. Pippert. In 1983, while working on the ranch, Mr. Fojt suffered a heart attack and died in the pasture immediately. So Ellie was left alone as they had no children. But in July 1982, their grandnephew and wife moved a trailer home on their place and were there to help Ellie go thru this bad time. Ellie also had good nieces and nephews and other grandnieces and grandnephews, neighbors and friends to help, so she continued to live alone in her home.

Ellie and Cap didn't have any children of their own, but their home was a home away from home for many of their nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, and their home was seldom empty of children. They loved them all and the children loved them. They were also Aunt Ellie and Uncle Cap to many who were not related to them.

Ellie was a member of Vsetin Moravian Brethren Church for many years, and served as caretaker of the church for many years. She was a member of Vsetin Christian Sisters and served on various committees. She was also a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #16 of Bila Hora and later of Lodge #4 of Hallettsville. She also served as Treasurer for Bila Hora Cemetery Association.

Ellie enjoyed doing many activities: gardening of her vegetables and flowers; cleaning the Bila Hora Cemetery; fishing with the kids; hunting squirrel, raccoons, and deer; baking kolaches and cookies for the kids; playing dominos; and picking pecans.

Ellie leaves to mourn her many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, other relatives, and a host of friends young and old.

Ellie was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; 2 brothers, R.J. Walters and W.F. Walters; and 2 sisters, Lillie Schindler and Clara Schafer.
