Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth F. Urbish, 89, of Hallettsville, died March 30, 2007. She was born on September 25, 1917 to Fred & Julia Pesek Netardus. She grew up in the St. Mary's Community and Hallettsville area. During WWII she managed Perry Brothers Stores in Hallettsville and Cuero. She married Fred Urbish on September 17, 1945. After her children were born, Elizabeth was a full-time mother and homemaker. She was an active member in the KJZT, Catholic Daughters of Americas, and Sacred Heart PTC while her children attended Sacred Heart School.

Elizabeth's hobbies included; enjoying her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, and making strudels and candy at Christmas.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by: her husband Fred of 49 years; parents Fred & Julia Pesek Netardus; 6-sisters, Lillie Fabian, Justina Satsky, Julia Urbish, Adele Hermes, Katherine Netardus, and Agnes Netardus; and brother Frank Netardus.

Elizabeth is survived by: 2-daughters, Gloria and Tom Gochenour of Brenham, and Jocelyn and James Woodburn of Victoria; son Allan and Linda Urbish of Victoria; 5-grandchildren, Jackie and Tony Garcia of Victoria, Pam Urbish of Victoria, Brain Gochenour of Austin, Allan Michael Urbish of Brooklyn, New York, and Mark Gochenour of Camp Pendleton, California; brother Joseph and Bea Netardus of Yoakum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service: 10 am, Monday, April 2, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 2 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 6 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home, and 9:30 am, Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers: Gilbert Urbish, Larry Netardus, Thomas Hermes, Ronnie Hermes, Frankie Joe Netardus, and Donald McAfee. Honorary Pallbearers: Stevens Nursing Center Staff and Lavaca Medical Center Staff. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church, or Charity of Your Choice.
