Obituary

Elizabeth Mary Kutach Rother, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 26, 2025, at the age of 87.  She was born in Danevang, Texas to Alfonce & Caroline Roznovsky Kutach on July 27, 1937.  She married Royce Rother on July 4, 1961, in Plainview, Texas.  During their 55 years of marriage, they had 4 children.  She was a member of KJZT, Christian Mothers and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Elizabeth grew up in Plainview, Texas with her 5 siblings and attended Corancahua to the 7th grade, Plainview in 8th grade and Louise High School.  She started working at a gas station for a year, a drug store for a little while, and then spent a few years working at Boysen's GroceryStore.  When she got married, she moved to Victoria, Texas. They moved to the Rother farm to raise their family in Hackberry.  She was a stay-at-home mom while farming until the kids started school.  She worked at Tex Tan, then worked at Utex Industries in Weimar, Texas for 37 plus years.  She retired from Utex but couldn't stay at home, so she went to work at Sacred Heart Cafeteria.

Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, and friend.  She never met a stranger, always had a smile, would help anyone that needed it and prayed for everyone.  Her family was a big love of her life and some of the memories we have of her are that she always had a bucket of bubble gum on her fridge, she loved her chickens, parakeets and had a lead foot when driving!!  She loved to go to her grandkids sporting events and went everywhere the family went.  Our Sunday evening meals that started at her house long ago turned into Sunday evening meals at the camp house, and even though she wasn't the one cooking lately she enjoyed her evenings with family.  Her favorite things to enjoy were a cup of coffee and any kind of sweets!  She was always up for any kind of adventures on our family vacations, from trying on pink wigs to party hats, and riding roller coasters.  She had a witty sense of humor even to the day she went to be with Jesus.  She enjoyed gardening and going to church with her grandkids on Sundays.  Her love of fishing was something she enjoyed even just recently.  She was a big Brahma fan and loved to see her grandkids on the field.  Her most recent enjoyment in life was sitting on the front porch waiting for the bus and waving at all the people who drove by and honked at her.

Elizabeth is survived by:  her 2 sons, Allen Rother & wife Cathy of Schulenburg and Donald Rother & wife Leean of Hallettsville; 2 daughters, Rhonda Henneke & husband Marty of Hallettsville and Joyce Rainosek of Hallettsville; three sisters, Georgia Rabius of Wallis, Texas, Angelina Marik of East Bernard and Irene Bard & husband Richard of Blessing, Texas; her brother Butch Kutach & wife Betty of El Campo; eight grandchildren, Alicia Garcia & husband Pete Jr. of Schulenburg, Patricia Rother of Katy, Texas, Kayla Pant & husband Josh of Texas City, Texas, Shelly MacPherson & husband Kyle of East Bernard, Shawn Rainosek & wife Sabrina of Hallettsville, Heather Cejka & husband Brady of Hallettsville, Elise Rainosek & husband Chase of Hallettsville and Hannah Evans & husband Denver of Yoakum; step granddaughter Jennifer Buchhorn & husband Warren of Cuero; and 13 great grandchildren with one on the way.
