Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Morton, 75, of Hallettsville, known to her friends as Betty, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 20, 2017 in Victoria, Texas. Betty was born in Houston, Texas, September 2, 1941 to John M.R. and Marie Aschbacher Morton. Betty was an active member of St. Georges Episcopal Church and volunteered at their charity resale shop.

In 1998, Betty moved to Hallettsville and quickly became involved in her new community. She enjoyed being a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Betty loved exploring Lavaca County with her sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Carol, shopping and finding new and interesting places to eat. Betty was up for any new adventure!

Among her closest companions were her cherished "fur babies"; her cat Cowboy; Flame her horse, her beagle, her black lab Sheridan, and numerous kittens who needed a home.

Betty is survived by her sister-in-law Carol Smith Morton, her nephew Bryan Randolph Morton, niece Carrie Morton Ostrin & husband Paul, her treasured great niece, Carly and nephews, Luke, Christopher, Zachary, and Grey, and a host of Neuhaus cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents John & Marie, brothers Richard and Randy, her sister-in-law Carolyn, and nephew Rob.

In her later years, Betty was blessed with many special caregivers, and most recently the caring staff of Stevens Nursing Home. The family is most appreciative and forever grateful for their care and concern. Many will miss her infectious laugh.

Funeral Service: 10: 30 am, Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at St. James Episcopal Church of Hallettsville. A lite lunch will follow after the service. Officiant: Rev. Virginia H. Frnka. Private Interment: 3:30 pm, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Memorial Oak Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX.
