Obituary

Elaine Rogers, 84, of Hallettsville, passed away April 17, 2013. She was born on March 1, 1929 to Joseph & Della Yentzen Placette in Port Arthur, TX. She married Walter Rogers Jr. on July 3, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Together they lived in Port Arthur, Groves, Bridge City, Mauriceville and Hallettsville, TX. She was a charter member of Sacred Heart Altar Society, member of ACTS and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

They have always been very active in the church. She was very involved in ACTS and enjoyed working at LAMB. In her early years, she enjoyed traveling, she did not need any urging, and could have her bags packed in less than 15 minutes. She loved to dance and gave as much of her time as possible volunteering wherever she could.

Elaine is survived by: her husband Deacon Walter Sonny Rogers Jr.; son Dr. John Rogers & wife Jill of Woodlands; 2 daughters, Mary Urbish & husband Gilbert of Hallettsville, and Becki Nation & husband Rick of Hulbert, OK; 3 sisters, Patsy Collins of Austin, Theresa Adair of Hallettsville, and Rosalie Benton of Bridge City, TX; 9 grandchildren, Heather Lawson, Jason Minton, Shelley Boozer, Dr. Kristen Rogers, Kaleb Nation, Jaden Nation, Maddi Nation, Blaise Nation, and Avery Nation; and 4 great grandchildren, Chance and Cole Minton, Riley Boozer and Gentry Lawson.

Elaine was preceded in death by: her parents; and 3 brothers, J.G., Harold, and Cecil Placette.

Funeral Mass Service: 3 pm, Monday, Apr. 22, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Sacred Heart Church. Rosary: 4 pm, Sunday, at Sacred Heart Church; with the visitation continuing at Kubena Funeral Home after the rosary. Officiates: Msgr. John Peters, Fr. Bob Knippenburg, and Fr. Michael Rother. Pallbearers: Jeff Lawson, Paul Boozer, Jason Minton, Blaise Nation, Jaden Nation, and Jerry Teltschick. Honorary Pallbearers: Greig Placette and Gilbert Urbish. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, ACTS, or LAMB. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
