Edwin John Vaculik, 91, Moravia, passed away June 1, 2018. He was born on September 21, 1926 to John & Rozy Koudelka Vaculik in Moulton. He married Lorene Trlica on October 25, 1952 at St. John, TX. He joined the US Navy during WWII at the age of 18, served on the USS Savo Island Aircraft Carrier, and was honorably discharge on April 23, 1946. He was a member of the VFW, SPJST and Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia.
Edwin worked for Mosher Steel in Houston and retired to the Moravia Community in 1983. His favorite past time was gardening, tinkering around his country home, and spending time with friends and family, especially his niece Cheryl, who was his loving caregiver since the death of Lorene in 2009.
Edwin is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Edwin was preceded in death by: his wife Lorene; parents; 2 brothers, Alfred J. Vaculik Sr. and Eugene Vaculik (his twin); and sister Angeline Boethel.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia. Visitation: 5 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home; with Rosary starting at 7 pm. Pallbearers: Daryl Trlica, Ryan Schmidt, Pat Klesel, Matthew Klesel, Alfred Vaculik Jr., and Ronnie Vaculik. Honorary Pallbearers: numerous nieces and nephews. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: SPJST Cemetery Fund of Moravia, Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia, or Donor's Choice. Burial: SPJST Cemetery of Moravia.
