Obituary

Edwin Paul Rother, 78, of Hallettsville, TX, was taken to be with the good Lord on March 19, 2009. He was born on November 6, 1930 to William and Matilda Rother in Hallettsville, TX. Edwin had 2 brothers, Herman and Leonard Rother, and 2 sisters, Evelyn Tobola and Addela Filla. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

He married Kathryn Pitonyak on February 14, 1954. They were blessed with 6 children: Brenda, Wanda, Sandra, Lee, Steven and Norma.

Edwin enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising cattle, hunting and fishing. He worked in the construction industry, then later opened Rother's Fencing for 15 years. He then was employed as a ranch forman for Jim Snelson and has been enjoying ranch hand work since 1991.

Edwin is survived by: his wife, Kay Rother; son Lee Rother and wife, Cindy; 3 daughters, Brenda Grahmann and the late James Grahmann, Sandra Wilson and husband, Donald, and Norma Skelton and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Kimberly, Mark, Greg, Dondra, Jeremy, Amanda, Scott, Trent and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla, Travis, Rebecca and Stephanie; and his beloved dog "Sugar".

He is preceded in death by: his parents, William and Matilda; children, Wanda and Steven Rother; son-in-law James Grahmann; and brother Herman Rother.

Known as "Daddy" to his children and "Popo" to his grandkids and great-grandkids, he will be missed by many!

The family of Edwin P. Rother wants to thank all of the family and friends for their presence, thoughts, prayers and support during this time.

Service: 10 am, Saturday, March 21, 2009, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 2 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Prayer Service: 7 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Dr. Alan William. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Mark, Grahmann, Greg Grahmann, Jeremy Wilson, Scott Rother, Trent Skelton, and Tyler Skelton. Honorary Pallbearers: Kimberly Pesek, Amanda Rother, Dondra Wilson, and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall or to the donor's choice.
