Edwin Daryl Chovanetz, 77, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away at home on March 24, 2026. He was born on July 27, 1948, in Hallettsville, TX, to Edwin & Leona Chovanetz. He attended Hallettsville High School, where he was active in sports, including baseball and football, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and KJZT. He went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a Degree in Accounting and built a long and successful career in finance and accounting within the energy industry.

Edwin’s work took him around the world, and he developed a lasting love of travel. He not only traveled widely but lived abroad in several countries, including Tunisia, Great Britain, Kazakhstan and Russia. It was in Russia that he met Tanya, and they were married on September 29, 1997.

They settled back in the United States in Missouri City, Texas, where Eddie continued sharing his love of cooking with family and friends and planned frequent family trips. In retirement, Eddie enjoyed raising cattle in Shiner, TX.

Edwin is survived by: his wife Tanya; daughter Kate & husband Peter Crews; grandsons, Anton and Gregory Crews; brother Barry & wife Nelaida Chovanetz; nephews, Koda, Aaron and Sean Chovanetz; and niece Miyuki Mann.

Preceding him in death; his parents Edwin and Leona Chovanetz and two brothers, William (Billy) and Bernard Chovanetz.

Funeral Mass Service: 2pm, April 1, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with Visitation starting at 12:45 pm and Rosary at 1:30pm. Pallbearers: Sean Chovanetz, Aaron Chovanetz, Koda Chovanetz, Peter Crews, Danny Joe Pesek and Jerome Pesek. Officiant: Rev. Michael Rother. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, ALS Association or Donor's choice. Entombment: Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Hallettsville, TX.
