Obituary

Edward Carmine Vaccaro, age 70, of Hallettsville, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017. He was born on September 26, 1947 to Edward and Rosalie Vaccaro of Brooklyn, New York. On May 9, 1986, He married the love of his life, Kathy Wotipka. They shared 31 amazing years together.

Eddie served in the US Army from 1976 to 1978 in the military police. A former Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Patrol Sergeant for almost 20 years (1980-2000). He was serving as a Lieutenant in the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office for 13 years, acquiring the education level of Master Peace Officer. He was a member of TMPA – Police Association of Texas and Texas Sheriff's Association.

Eddie's most enjoyable pastimes included loading up the whole family and driving hours on in to try out a new restaurant. He would get up every Saturday morning and say "alright come on, y'all get ready" when we asked where we're going he would respond "I don't know yet but we're going somewhere" as long he was with his family that's all that mattered to him. He had a passion for race cars since he was a young boy, and loved to tell stories on what car he "smoked" that pulled up beside him. He loved to brag about his new Dodge Charger to everyone he met, he'd go up to people and ask, "Hey, have you seen my new car?" Driving that car made him feel young again. Above all things, he loved to spend most weekends together with his family, sitting on the front porch just telling stories and watching the grand babies run and play.

Eddie served his community with respect and honesty; he was passionate about helping others and made a strong impact in the community. He would always say, everyone is treated equally in my profession and would always take care of anyone day or night. His phone could ring at 2 am and he would get up and go to work without hesitation. His dedication to his family and Job was contagious to others. One thing he always said was to do what makes you happy and never give up when life hits you hard.

Eddie is survived by: his wife Kathy; 2 sons, Anthony Vaccaro and Joseph Vaccaro & fiancée Melanie Foxell; daughter Christina Lynn; and 2 grandchildren, Zoey and Dominic Vaccaro.
