Obituary

Edward "Pops" Harvey McCrumb Sr., 76, of Hallettsville, passed away Oct. 16, 2012. He was born on Oct. 9, 1936 to Herbert & Martha Pohl McCrumb in Hallettsville. He married Annette Ladish on July 14, 1963 in Taft, Texas. He was a member of Lavaca County Wildlife Management Association, and a follower of the Baptist Faith.

Edward spent his career in the Retail Industry, with long-time management positions with TG&Y, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Upon his retirement he and Annette returned to Hallettsville (Vienna). He built up a menagerie of animals including cattle, donkeys, turkey, chickens, duck and geese, which he loved taking care of every day. He enjoyed his daily drives around his property in his Kawasaki Mule with his beloved dachshunds, Buffy and Bo. He could often be seen around town with "the boys" in the truck with him!

His grandchildren anxiously looked forward to staying at the ranch with Pops and Mema each summer. What a fun time they always had with Pops and they all will have precious memories to carry with them throughout their lives. He instilled a love for the land, cattle, wildlife and hunting in his children and grandchildren.

Edward was passionate about wildlife and hunting. He helped start the Lavaca County Wildlife Management Association and was very active with this organization for many years. He enjoyed serving on the Lavaca County Appraisal Board the past few years and you could find him on most Tuesdays at the Hallettsville Livestock Auction. He loved any opportunity to be around others, never met a stranger and was always quick to offer a helping hand. He was loved by many and liked by all.

Pops you will be forever in our hearts and in our thoughts each and every day. We love you always.
