Edith Dorothy Pekar, 96, of Deer Park, TX, passed away April 13, 2016. She was born on May 30, 1919 to Frank F. & Sophie Ressler Opela in Wied, TX. She married Jerome R. Pekar on September 29, 1939. She was a member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church of Houston.

Edith is survived by: 2 sons, Jerome Pekar & wife Edna of Houston, and Mark Pekar & wife Jodi of Pasadena; granddaughter Calla Carbullido & husband Scott of Santee, CA; 3 great grandsons, Kalani, Kanoa and Ronan Carbullido; and special friend Frank Perez.

Edith was preceded in death by: her husband Jerome; parents; 3 brothers, Julius, Jaro and Leo Opela; and 4 sisters, Frances Janak, Lucy Matusek, Matilda Janak and Pauline Kutach.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Monday, April 18, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at6 pm. Pallbearers: Francis Brosch, Ronald Opela, Donald Opela, Ryan Opela, Keith Orsak, and Charlie Roder. Honorary Pallbearers: Jimmy Shannon and Isaac Montelango. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: St. Mary's Catholic Church or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
