IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eddie W.
Schulte Sr.
September 23, 1923 – April 21, 2010
In 1943, "Pump", as he was affectionately known to his family, left the family farm and moved to Houston. In June 1946, while living in Houston, Eddie met a lovely young lady at a dance at the S.P.J.S.T. Hall. After dating for less than 1 year, Eddie married Genevieve Schattel on May 10, 1947 at All Saints Catholic Church in Houston.
Eddie and Genevieve settled into married life in their home in the Heights. They were blessed with three children, Eddie Jr. (Bill), Tom, and Gina. Their family grew over the years as their children blessed them with five grandchildren, Cody, Michael, Tommy, Casey, and Sarah. Eddie was fortunate to see three of his grandchildren go on to start their own families when Cody married Crystal, Casey married Brian, and Tommy married Jennifer. He was extremely proud of all his grandchildren and loved them dearly.
In May of 1988, Eddie and Genevieve returned to Hallettsville where they lived on the same land that Eddie helped farm as a young boy. Over the last 22 years, Eddie and Genevieve made a home here in Hallettsville.
Eddie loved Hallettsville. He was proud that he lived on the land that his grandparents had worked so hard to buy. He loved that he was able to reconnect with old friends and made new friends as well. His time spent here with Genevieve was the happiest years of his life.
Eddie is survived by: his loving wife of 62 years Genevieve Schattel Schulte of Hallettsville; two sons, Eddie W. Jr. and Jane Schulte of Midland, TX, and Tom and Paula Schulte of Cypress, TX; daughter Gina McCain of Houston, TX; brother Ernest Schulte and wife Dorothy of Hallettsville; grandchildren, Cody Schulte and wife Crystal of Longmont, CO, Casey Everitt & husband Brian of Dallas, TX, Tommy Schulte & wife Jennifer of Spring, TX, Sarah Schulte of Cypress, TX, and Michael McCain of Houston, TX. Eddie is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Dolores Schattel Pranger and husband Jerry (deceased) of Hillsboro, OR, Gertrude Schattel Laetsch and husband John of Houston, TX, Patricia Schattel Hablizel and husband Freddy (deceased) of Houston; brothers-in-law, Edward Schattel and wife Donna of Houston, TX, and John Schattel and wife Dagmar of Yardley, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved and loved to make them laugh. They loved "Eddie Schulte Stories".
Eddie, Pump, Daddy, Grandpa and Uncle Eddie will be greatly missed.
