IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Earl Dean
Logue
August 1, 1938 – December 10, 2024
Earl Dean Logue, 86, of Hallettsville, Texas passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on December 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 1, 1938, in Sparks, Oklahoma to Albert Floyd Logue and Pearl Aretta Logue.
Earl grew up in South Texas, where he graduated from Banquete High School before entering employment with Shell Oil Company in 1959. Earl married the love of his life, Virginia (Ginger) on September 20, 1961. Earl and Ginger met at the movies when they were young. Throughout their marriage, they were a shining example of true love; always supporting one another, enjoying life and having a fun home where everyone wanted to be. Earl was drafted into the military and served two years with the Army in Lawton, Oklahoma before returning to South Texas and continuing his employment with Shell. Earl's employment necessitated a move to Alvin, Texas where they lived until 1986 before being relocated again to Hallettsville, Texas. Earl was a loyal employee with Shell for 33 years before retiring in 1992.
Earl was a beloved husband, dad, Popo, uncle and friend. He was adored by his children and grandchildren and loved by all who knew him. He was always at the front-and-center of his children's lives, cheering them on from the sidelines, and making them feel important and loved. He had a heart of gold and would gladly help anyone in need. Earl was a man of many hobbies and loved traveling with his wife. He was a talented musician and very skilled at playing the guitar and singing. He loved attending bluegrass festivals and, until recently, would participate in regular, weekly 'jam sessions' with his other musician friends. Earl's musical talents were often requested for entertainment at local events. His outgoing, friendly nature led him to make acquaintances wherever he traveled. Earl never met a stranger and many of those meetings led to close, lifelong friendships. His jovial, optimistic outlook was admired by many and Earl was never without a smile on his face, a good-natured joke, or his ever-popular Donald Duck imitation.
Earl is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginger) of 63 loving years, daughter Laurie Balke (Roger) of Sandpoint, Idaho, son Chad Logue (Polly Ellis) of League City, Texas, daughter Amy Cheatham (Jeff) of Uvalde, Texas along with grandchildren Samantha Larrow, Cooper Balke, Preston Logue, Maison Logue, Landon Logue, Madison Paugh, Rowdy Cheatham and step-grandchildren Casey and Devin Ellis. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Scarlett, Cooper, Ford, Colt, Melody, James, Tyson and Laekyn as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Pearl Logue, granddaughter Heather Michele Balke, brothers Leonard, Floyd, Bobby and Charles, and sisters Betty, Leona, Peggy, and Patsy.
The family will hold a private celebration of Earl's life at a later date and would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Hospice of South Texas in Victoria for the compassion they provided in Earl's final days.
