Obituary

*E. Elizabeth (Evans) Holland*

A mother, nurse, and wonderful inspiration left our side on October 4,2012 at the age of 92. She had been a resident of Regency Nursing Center in Schulenburg for several months.

Elizabeth was born in 1920 in Lavaca County, attended nursing school at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, then was called to Houston during the Polio epidemic. There she worked at Herman Hospital, and held several
private and industrial nursing positions. It was in Houston that she met and married her husband, an Aggie and decorated WWII veteran.

Over the years the family lived briefly near Sao Paulo, Brazil S.A., then in Galena Park, La Porte, and finally, Schulenburg, Texas where her sons attended high school. After raising their sons Elizabeth went back to nursing, working at the Weimar and Shiner hospitals for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. "Bill" Holland, her two sisters, Jean McCoy and Lennie Webb, and her seven brothers, Travis,Willard, "Junie" (Joseph Jr.), Raymond, Calvin, Jack, and Billy-Wayne Evans.

Elizabeth was laid to rest beside her husband at Salem cemetery near Ezzell, Texas on October 5, 2012, it was a simple ceremony with a small gathering of her immediate family, as per her wishes.

She is survived by her two sons, John and Alan Holland, and her grandson, David Holland.
