Dorothy Kahanek Ponton, 87, of Hallettsville, passed away Jan. 17, 2016. She was born on Nov. 17, 1928 to Frank Alois & Lillian Satsky Kahanek in Hallettsville. She was a member of the Order of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, animal and environmental organizations, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Dorothy graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1946. She married Guy Ponton on June 27, 1946 in Hallettsville. She completed a typing course in Durhams Business College in Houston; she worked for Kelly as a typist on temporary jobs in Houston (her husband's place of employment).

Dorothy is survived by her brother Lee Roy Kahanek of Hallettsville.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral Service: 1 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at Kubena Funeral Home with Visitation starting at 11 am. Officiant: Rev. Barnabus Kyeah. Pallbearers: Jimmie Belicek, Glen Bludau, Richard Klimitchek, Ronald Klekar, John Satsky, and Wilbert Satsky. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Donor's Choice.
