Dorothy Alice Lorfing, 88, of Hallettsville, passed away June 30, 2021 to be with her Lord and family. She was born on February 5, 1933, to Henry F. & Minnie Lorfing on the family homestead in the Shiloh Community. She was the fifth of six children born into a loving, Christian home. She grew up on the family farm and attended Shiloh School, Hallettsville High School, and completed one year at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin. After college she moved to Victoria to begin her career as a bookkeeper. She continued this career in Houston and Dallas where she retired. She returned to make her home in Hallettsville spending her time visiting and helping others. Following a car accident, she resided at Hallettsville Rehabilitation and Nursing for seven years.
Dorothy is survived by: sister Lucille Lorfing Parker & husband John; nephews, James Langenberg, Alan Lorfing, Neil Lorfing and Galen Lorfing; nieces, Sandra Lorfing Seals and Brenda Lorfing McKindley; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents Henry F. & Minnie Theresa Lorfing; her grandparents Mathias & Elizabeth Lorfing and Jacob & Helen Lorfing; three brothers, Oscar, Adolph and Alfred Lorfing; and sister Selma Lorfing Langenberg.
The family acknowledges with special thanks the Hallettsville Rehab and Nursing family for their loving care of Dorothy.
Memorial Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. Officiants: Pastor Jared Stillions & Pastor Herb Beyer. Memorials: Shiloh Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, St. Peter Educational Scholarship Fund or donor's Choice. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery.
