IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Lois
Nevlud
October 26, 1954 – January 20, 2021
Donna was such a bright light who filled every room she entered with her big beautiful smile, big beautiful brown eyes, and huge personality. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, co-worker, teacher, homemaker, lover of life, and Christ-professing daughter of God.
Donna (Bludau) Nevlud, 66, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully on January, 20, 2021, surrounded by her husband and her children at their home. She was one of 7 children, born in Hallettsville, Texas on October 26, 1954, to Joseph "Jodie" Bernard Jr. and Alice (Sobotik) Bludau. She later raised seven children of her own.
Donna was a 1973 high school graduate of Sacred Heart School in Hallettsville and a college graduate of Sam Houston State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching and Home Economics with a Special Education Minor. Growing up she was very involved in the community. She was in 4-H for 7 years participating in food shows, agri-business, leadership, food nutrition, and sewing. She passed down her knowledge in 4-H to all of her children. In High School she was the Farm Bureau Queen and in College, The Miss Texas Prison Rodeo Beauty Queen and member of Southern Steppers Drill Team at SHSU. She was a busy bee to say the least.
Notable favorite past times of Donna's childhood are, riding with her father Jodie in his truck to The Shiner Brewery to pick up ice and beer for his ice house, and learning life skills from her mother.
On June 8, 1996 Donna married Mark Nevlud. They would have been celebrating 25 years this June. They have resided in Hallettsville, Texas where they enjoyed the farm life, raising chickens, cattle, hogs, and quail at times. Together they cultivated a garden of the freshest produce, which Donna loved to cook. She was the best cook in any kitchen but she still thrived and excelled at always doing better and coming come up with new dishes. She doubted every meal, prefacing serving it with, "I don't know if it will be any good." Of course it was always just right! Further passions included helping her children pursue their dreams, playing with her grandkids, canning vegetables, making jelly, film and theatre acting, as she did for years before she had children, performing in many plays and then again when her kids were grown and moved out, appearing in a few commercial and feature films, and she was a huge Pro-Life advocate. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, tubing at the Frio river, family reunions, planting flowers, sewing, refurbishing furniture, designing and remodeling her rent houses, and developing her dream Bed & Breakfast. While she was a mother to 7, she was also a mother to each and every one of her children's friends. The main comment from others about Donna is that she made people feel accepted, welcomed, and loved - It was truly a gift.
Donna's six grandchildren were true gems to her and she enjoyed every time they visited her house and hearing about what was going on in their lives.
Donna proudly served as member of The Republican Women's Group of Yoakum area for many years and led their charge as President during 2016. She was fervently passionate about the cause and promoting the values they stood for.
Donna is survived by: her husband Mark Nevlud; her children, Brent Christian, Starla Christian of North Hollywood, CA, Jared & wife Amy Christian and kids Hannah and Lucas of Midland, Kyle & wife Hannah Christian of Austin, Charity & husband Blake Rosenbaum and sons Rhett, Brock and Duke of Columbus, Caleb Christian of Arlington, and Brandon Christian and son Kendon of Weatherford; brothers, Joseph Bludau III, Robert (Bobby) Bludau; and sisters, Virginia Korenek and Alice (Dolly) Johnson.
Donna was preceded in death by; her parents, brother Charlie Bludau, and sister Marilyn Marikle.
To say she will be missed is a huge understatement; her legacy will carry on as she now rests in Jesus' arms.
