Donald William "Don" Rush, Sr. passed away on March 19, 2018 in Shiner, Texas. He was 73 years old.

Don was born on May 3, 1944 in Houston, Texas. He was the son of James and Rosalie (Hogue) Rush. He is survived by his longtime friend, Doris Pustka; son, Don, Jr. and his wife, Michelle; son, Mike and his wife, Mandy; three grandchildren, Andrew, Grace and Max; and older brother, Jim.

After graduating from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas, Don attended Sam Houston State University, worked for a number of years for the steel company Proler International, and eventually owned a flooring business.

Don lived his retirement the way he wanted – calling his sons (usually smack-dab in the middle of the busy work day!), presiding over Lavaca County's oil-drilling activity from the perspective of his front porch, and sipping Shiner Beer while shooting the bull with his friends at Machart Grocery (Doris's place).

Fittingly, a celebration of Don's life will take place at Machart Grocery at 2568 County Road 370 in Shiner, Texas on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11 a.m.

Don wasn't much for flowers, so just bring yourself, along with an appetite for BBQ, a few good stories (truthful optional) and a handful of quarters for the jukebox to help us honor him the way he would have wanted. Corny jokes would be good, too. He loved corny jokes.
