Donald E. "Cheyenne" Pate, 80, of Hallettsville, passed away April 17, 2018. He was born on November 7, 1937, to J.D. & Vacie Rice in Yoakum, TX. He married Jane Carol Norton on January 27, 1972 in Houston, TX. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Cheyenne was a welder by trade. He was recently honored for 60+ years of membership to the Pipeliners Union Local 798 in Tulsa, OK.
Cheyenne was an outdoorsman. He love hunting, fishing and camping. He loved watching western movies and the rodeo finals. He was a true cowboy at heart.
Cheyenne was a master gardener. He was known for his "Jurassic" vegetables. He and Violet would can a lot of the stuff that was grown and donate to the St. Mary Church Picnic for auction.
Cheyenne loved animals, especially his cats Billy Bob and Bubba Bob. Anybody who came to visit was greeted by the small zoo.
Cheyenne made his rounds to check on his favorite "cold beverage" stops, with "Blases" being at the top of his list. He always had a dollar or two for scratch offs and football pots.
Cheyenne got to know a lot of people in his lifetime and he will be truly missed and loved by all.
Cheyenne is survived by: 3 daughters, Wendy Pate Custer, Donna Kincaid and Liza Brosch; 2 sons, Donnie Pate and Sam Hinden; 2 brothers, Charles Pate and Dale Pate; sister Elaine Pate; and numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Cheyenne was preceded in death by; wife Jane Carol, 2 sons, Ricky Pate and Keith Hinden, daughter Judy Edward, his parents, and special friend Violet "Sweetie" Redd.
Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Monday, April 23, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home; with Rosary starting at 6 pm. Pallbearers: Damon Moncrief, Bryan Tesch, Scott Bradberry, Myles Pate, Joe Edwards, and Gilbert Mozisek. Honorary Pallbearers: Bo Shirley, Chase Dolezal, and Darrel Mozisek. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: donor's choice. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
