Donal Wayne Johnson, 83, of Hallettsville, Texas, left this world on May 9, 2023. He was born in Robstown, Texas on January 13, 1940, the oldest son of the late Wayne Stafford & Evelyn Claudine Johnson.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy King Johnson and daughter Suzanne J. Seitz of Atascocita, Texas. His grandchildren, Sarah Konvicka, (her husband Matthew and their three daughters McKenna, Braelyn and Layne) of Goliad, Landry Seitz of Berclair, and Hayden Seitz of Waco, all will miss their "Pawpaw". In addition, he is survived by his brother Ernest Lester Johnson (Barbara). Other family members for which he had a great love and affection include nephews, Chris Patterson and John Patterson of Houston and San Diego respectively while niece, Catherine Sproul predeceased him.

Don was preceded in death by his son Stephen Wayne Johnson, and brothers Dudley Johnson & Sterling Johnson

Don was an oilfield worker for 60 years working for several major oil and gas producers and self-employment as a consultant. He founded and was the owner of PESO, an oil field service company in Hallettsville.

Don will always be remembered for his love of sports, particularly hunting and rodeo events. In recent weeks, he told us stories of learning how to hunt from his Grandfather Rimmer whom he admired greatly. He spent many a hunting season in South Texas waiting for just the right buck to appear on the landscape. He enjoyed attending bull riding events or watching them on TV. saying, "watching bull riding on these new big TVs is "almost the same as being there." He had a particular soft spot in his heart for his faithful dogs and was very concerned about their well-being during his final days.

We will miss his calming demeanor, wit, and sometimes sarcastic sense of humor. He will never be forgotten by his family or friends, and all will miss him greatly in the times to come.

A visitation from 10 am to 12 noon, Saturday, May 27, 2023, will be held at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial s may be made to Hospice of South Texas or donor's choice.
