Dolores M. Appelt, 75, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 13, 2011. She was born on Aug. 12, 1935 to Alex R. & Josephine Greer Vana in Lavaca County, Texas. She married Charles "Poochie" Appelt on June 30, 1954. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Dolores was a very active with all her children, and their many activities. She loved taking trips with her daughters to Louisiana, her favorite past time was "junk shopping". She also loved sewing, crafting and spending lots of time with her children & grandchildren. Another of her loves was L.A.M.B. (Lavaca Assistance Ministry Body), she spent many hours to the unfortunate and sick. She was president of the L.A.M.B. Board and was very instrumental in keeping the thrift store thriving.

Dolores is survived by: her husband Poochie; 6 children, Michael Appelt, Darrell Appelt & wife Jean, Roxanne Chapman & husband Steve, Lisa Pessarra & husband John, Amy Appelt, and Eric Appelt & wife Tobi; brother Alex Lee Vana; sister Joann Vana Hartman; 9 grandchildren, Jason Appelt, Jill Appelt Loewe, Amber Chapman Vasquez, Hailey Chapman, Kindell Kahanek DuFour, Trace Jordan, Jessica Appelt Vanzant, Kyla Appelt, and Jena Appelt; and 6 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexi Loewe, Weston and Garrett Appelt, Peyton DuFour, and Ellison Vanzant.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 6 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Jason Appelt, Steve Chapman, John Pessarra, Damien DuFour, Allen Vasquez, and Joaquin Garza. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
