Dennis E. Matula, 78, of Hallettsville, TX, passed away peacefully with his wife, son and daughter by his side on March 7, 2025. He was the son of Frank J. Matula and Margaret Matula. He was born on January 29, 1947. He married the love of his life on September 28, 1969, and they raised 2 children together, they were married for 55 blessed years.
After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1965, Dennis went to college in Kingsville A&I and majored in finance. After graduating in 1969 he went to work for the National Bank Examiners in San Antonio Texas. After 3 years he accepted a job at First Nichols National Bank in Kenedy TX, where he was the vice president for 11 years. He then accepted a position in Hallettsville with Independence Savings and Loan as president and that lead him to his last job as president of Wells Fargo Bank in Hallettsville.
Dennis will be missed by many. He was one of those that was in every organization and always willing and wanting to lend a helping hand. He always gave 110% in anything that he did. He was an avid golfer, loved to play cards and enjoyed his cattle. He never met a stranger.
Dennis is preceded in death by, his parents Frank J Matula and Margaret Matula and in-laws Edgar and Allyne Autrey.
Dennis is survived by: his wife of 55 years Cynthia Matula; son Brent Matula & companion Vicki Perez; daughter Robbie Holik & husband David; grandson Logan Holik & companion Danyel Horton; brothers, Charles (Snow) Matula & Irene and David Matula; sisters, Annette Henke & Paul, Mary Hall & Stan, Cindy Matula & Fernando Sotelo and Rebecca Tait & Andy; sister-in-law Patricia Hydrick; and numerous nieces & nephews and great nieces & great nephews.
Memorial Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville with Visitation starting at 9 am and Rosary at 10 am. Memorials: American Cancer Society, Hospice of South Texas, Sacred Heart School or Donor's Choice. Luncheon afterwards @ 1621 CR 132.
